More spinning

October31

AARGHHHH! My horns have to be ordered! Another 5-7 days! Geez Louise!

I had a hard time at the Fall Festival tonight. It was bittersweet to watch the children interacting with the folks there. My kids love those people, and they do love my children. I love the people, too. Sigh. This is going to be difficult. I’m not planning to burn any bridges, but I am wondering if they’ll be burned for me, ykwim?

Wheel spinning

October30

Today, I’ll be spending quite a bit of time spinning my wheels here at the desk. One of my pump horns broke last night, so it’s gonna take twice as long to pump as it usually does. Bearing in mind that I typically spend 5-6 hours at it………….yeah, see?

I need to do laundry, teach and several other things. Before I forget, I also want to do some day planning, and share some thoughts on what normal is. But, I am almost through pumping, so I will hold off on that until I get back.

Oh, yes, DH is picking up another set of horns for me today.

Evil Eye

October30

Here’s a funny thought. Well, funny to me, but I’ll admit I need more coffee yet. What if I could use some of those theatrical contact lenses when my kids really made me crazy? Then I could look up at them like something out of a horror movie! Muhahahahaha

I’ve used contact lenses before, and found them easy to use and comfortable. But those were clear, not the fun kind.

Sweet Relief

October27

You have no idea how pleased I am to report that after the second pump, I no longer feel like there is going to be a nasty explosion of bre*st tissue. And that’s a really good thing, cause I would hate to clean up the mess that would make. Not worrying about wetting myself is pretty cool, too. Do you now know more than you ever wanted to about my chest? Let me explain something: every nursing mother worries about the milk. When you have to pump for your non-nurser, the problem is just magnified. Being able to measure each drop is not comforting, but rather presents a whole new list of issues to worry about. Do non-pumpers know they made an ounce less today than yesterday? No, but I do. And I get to wonder if I am having an off day, or if this is a downwardly spiraling trend. And the suction of a pump is just not as good as that of a babe at getting the milk out.

N101

October27

If you are looking for nutritional supplements, N101 Nutrition is just about one-stop shopping. They carry many different brands, and offer volume discounts. Bonus: Burt’s Bees. As in 6 PAGES of Burt’s Bees, which happen to be my favorite all time product line for just about every baby care related product.

In addition to the wide product selection, they provide detailed information about each product, including ingredients and supplements facts. For more information, you can check out the library which has information on different sources of protein, among other things. Did you know hemp has protein? Me either, but I do now. The HealthNotes are also worth checking out, with articles ranging from homeopathy (my preferred treatment method) to recipes to medicine interactions.

Their reward programis based on dollars spent so you can earn points on each purchase and redeem for discounts and free merchandise. Finally, N101 Nutrition places high priority on customer service, from your initial order placement to the final delivery.

Ouch

October27

Please allow me to whine a minute. I woke up this morning with my right br*ast sore, and I was hoping it would help to pump. Well, it didn’t, and it’s gone from sore to throbbing constant pain, and I think I am about to die from it. I just want to sit here and CRY! It’s inside, not outside, and I am sure it’s not a plugged duct, because I can get the milk out. But I am seriously having to concentrate on not whizzing all over myself. It hurts that bad.

Nonetheless, I did clean off the desk as I was supposed to do yesterday, but didn’t.

Get thee to a doctor, Cass! I’ve had breast infections from nursing and they can be dangerous.

I had mastitis too, and thought I was going to die. A warm compress may help.

Gotta be a Better Way

October26

I’m a dreamer, I know. But there are lots of things I’d rather do than the flooors around here. Since when is vacuuming fun? And you read all about my kitchen floor this week already. By the way, it’s done now, and I’ve been damp mopping for the past two nights just to keep it from getting bad again.

Now, I don’t think a ROOMBA is gonna work around here with the children. They do love to play with stuff, and who can ask them to resist that? But this new thing, SCOOBA does interest me. Man, if I could just turn that thing on, and go sit and knit while it took care of the floor, that would be a slice of pie, wouldn’t it? Like chocolate, only…..better. Ok, maybe not better than chocolate, let’s be reasonable after all. But easier housework is pretty much all good, yes? Yes.

I think that from now on, I need convenience. Some way to”buy” more time. I’d like my future cleaning products to give me more leisure, so that I can spend more time with the fam, instead of rushing them so I can go clean something.

I'm Cass. I am a full-time mom to eight great children, a Christian and a blogger. I'm also a knitter, a reader and a movie watcher. And a collector of eclectic oddities.

For the first time in 18 and a half years, I have my own little corner again. Somewhere along the way, I seem to have lost myself, and now that I realize I'm missing, I'm on the look out for me. You maybe don't know what that means, but then again, maybe you do. Regardless, this is where I'll be when I'm not being a mother or a knitter. This is where I'll be just me. And if no one ever reads it, that's ok. I'll know it's here.
