Sunday Sermon-Thankfulness

November29

The sermon this week was on Thankfulness, which you probably did not realize, having just seen the title and all. We did alot of page turning this week, but I’ll avoid having you do that, by lifting the scriptures from Crosswalk.com. BTW, if you have not checked them out, do, because they are indispensable for things like this.

1) Thankfulness was exemplified by Jesus. The first, and main passage came from John chapter 6, with particular emphasis on verse 11. And Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks He distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples to those sitting down; and likewise of the fish, as much as they wanted.

2)Thankfulness is expected of Christians. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

3)Thankfulness is enabled by the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 5: 15-20 See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

4) Thankfulness is expressed in worship. Psalm 100:4 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. Hebrews 13:15 Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.

5)Thankfulness is explained by faith. Philippians 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;

There ya go. Three days late, and still right on time. Just as God’s word always is :)

    Thank you for sharing your Sunday sermons, Cass. Its like going to church twice. Phillipians 4:6 was part of our Bible study this week. I love our God brings scripture we need to get continually to the forefront of our lives!

I'm Cass. I am a full-time mom to eight great children, a Christian and a blogger. I'm also a knitter, a reader and a movie watcher. And a collector of eclectic oddities.

For the first time in 18 and a half years, I have my own little corner again. Somewhere along the way, I seem to have lost myself, and now that I realize I'm missing, I'm on the look out for me. You maybe don't know what that means, but then again, maybe you do. Regardless, this is where I'll be when I'm not being a mother or a knitter. This is where I'll be just me. And if no one ever reads it, that's ok. I'll know it's here.
