Reflections on life from 40-something

Fun Times

December29

If I was made of money, I’d hire a couple of teenage helpers and take off for a vacation. I might go to Florida and visit Disneyquest, Pleasure Island, Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. I’d like to see Arabian Nights and the Pirates Dinner Adventure. I haven’t been to Disney since I was 13, and they sure have branched out a lot. It’d take a couple of weeks to see it all now, I think. Not to mention Sea World and the Kennedy Space Center. I guess I’ll have to put off my trip for awhile though, because Disney tickets for this crew, even at a discount, would cost a mint.

Using my kidneys

December29

Umm, yeah, breezed right by the bed that needs fresh sheets, and went straight on to the changing table that was unusable because it was so piled up. Score one for me, and another for the now-usable changing table. Sometimes my thinker functions correctly, and sometimes it just mis-fires, LOL!

I still need to do the bottom shelves. I have a bunch of diapers shreds to get rid of.

Sproose

December29

Sproose is a new search engine, with a twist that I think I’m going to like. After you enter your search term and the sites are displayed, you can rank them from 1 to 5. Your vote has an immediate effect on the search results you get, so you can build an index of your favorite sites for a particular term. Additionally, your vote is weighted along with everyone else’s to determine the rankings of a site. This means that instead of Google’s complex algorithm, users get to decide what a site’s worth is, and the users get to decide the rankings.

To get started ranking your favorite (and not so favorite) sites, head over to the Sproose home page and register. Then vote, vote, vote!

Morning Musings 12/29/2006

December29

Well, here we are on Friday of another 3 day weekend. Today, I absolutely must do laundry, because I only did one load yesterday. Oops. Then I’ll continue around my room by changing the bed. I’d like to get the changing table back in order today, but we’ll have to see how I feel.

Here’s the rub: I feel fine right now, ready to tackle the world. But that last time I felt fine and ready to tackle the world and did so (December 22-23), I ended up sick again. I’m trying to balance that against the mountains of chores. Of course, as I explained to DH, and he agreed, it does me no good to slay the dragon today if doing so puts me out of commission for a week.

Latest Postie Patrol

December28

BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!! I have seen teh latest Postie Patrol video, and man, is it ever a chiller!! To think I whine when it falls below 50, LOL! Ted and the gang teamed up with HP, and went to Chicago to see Robyn. She has to perform several challenges, all of a photographic or videographic nature in order to win the prize. And what a prioze it was: a kicking bundle of booty from HP, plus a cool one thousand bucks.

It looks like she had a lot of fun in spite of the cold. But I still say Ted was a little crazy to be whipping off his pants like that. Is there anything that man won’t do??? So, Ted, when are you coming to NC with my new digital fun? It’s warm here. Or at least not snowing!

This post is brought to you by HP, home of the Digital Photography Review, and so much more!

This House

  • Clean it: set aside x amount of time per day, begin in one spot and clean it. Really clean it. Do this continually for the rest of my life.
  • Work a few minutes in each room every day, doing a general tidy, kid’s rooms excepted

These Kids

  • Do something fun with them. Every day.
  • Train them all to first time obedience. Consistently.

This crazy life

  • get those schedules and lists in the sidebar working for me
  • make monthly schedule

This could be good

December28

I both celebrate and lament living in this small town. And I lament for reasons that are at opposite ends of the spectrum. My sleepy little town is growing so fast it makes me dizzy, and I dislike that. Conversely, it’s so small that I have to leave it to find things I need, and I also dislike that. I wish we had something like these San Diego yellow pages.

I actually live midway between two sizable towns, but they are in different counties and different phone books, so it’s difficult to compare the resources available. Of course, even as I say that, I remember that most of that growth is occurring between those 2 towns. Wonder which book they’ll put that in?

Morning Musings 12/28/2006

December28

What shall I do today? Laundry (of course) 2-3 loads, my nightstand and the floor between the bed and my dresser. I also want to put some goals up for 2007. I’ll make a page for that. I hope to do that when I pump again in an hour. For now, it’s time to get up from here and do something!

Oh! Mama says we should hear back on Grandmother’s cat scan today.

I'm Cass. I am a full-time mom to eight great children, a Christian and a blogger. I'm also a knitter, a reader and a movie watcher. And a collector of eclectic oddities.

For the first time in 18 and a half years, I have my own little corner again. Somewhere along the way, I seem to have lost myself, and now that I realize I'm missing, I'm on the look out for me. You maybe don't know what that means, but then again, maybe you do. Regardless, this is where I'll be when I'm not being a mother or a knitter. This is where I'll be just me. And if no one ever reads it, that's ok. I'll know it's here.
