Reflections on life from 40-something

Booking Through Thursday- TBR

January27

1. How many unread books do you have in your house, right now? (Your own books, that is–not ones that belong to other family members–and not counting things like school books, if you have them.) Clearly, an estimate will do.
2. To the best of your recollection, what is the OLDEST unread book in your collection? How long has it been waiting?
3. Do your TBR books (that’s “To Be Read,” if you didn’t know) haunt you, make you feel guilty that you haven’t read them yet?

Oh boy! I am so hesitant to list a number. Including all the books I want to read-fiction, non-fiction and those I feel like I should read, it’s probably well over 100. But I am not sure.

The oldest book is one I have had since my teens. At least, I think I haven’t read it yet. I say I have had it since my teens, but in truth I lent it to my aunt probably 20 years ago. She was culling her books a year or so ago, and gave it back to me in a sack of books. The funniest part is that she probably doesn’t remember I lent her the book in the first place. It’s The Lives of Rachel by Joel Gross.

They did, yes. Right up until the day I wrote this post. The books will still be there, after all, won’t they?

I'm Cass. I am a full-time mom to eight great children, a Christian and a blogger. I'm also a knitter, a reader and a movie watcher. And a collector of eclectic oddities.

For the first time in 18 and a half years, I have my own little corner again. Somewhere along the way, I seem to have lost myself, and now that I realize I'm missing, I'm on the look out for me. You maybe don't know what that means, but then again, maybe you do. Regardless, this is where I'll be when I'm not being a mother or a knitter. This is where I'll be just me. And if no one ever reads it, that's ok. I'll know it's here.
