Sleepless in Blogland

April9

Did you hear the crickets chirping on the blog today? Last night was another non-sleeping event of great magnitude, and today was spent mopping up puddles from two separate leaks in my house, one from the inside and one from the outside, as well as having all day guests whom I thoroughly enjoyed. In fact, that probably saved my sanity when I found the wet, soggy, soft wall behind my refrigerator.

When I got to check my email this evening, I saw an online friend had sent me an article that I really needed. He doesn’t even know I am having sleep problems, so it was a nice surprise! The article is about power naps, and there was a wealth of information in there that I hope will help me beat this insomnia thing. I was surprised to read that instead of being a time waster, a short nap can actually help you be more productive during the rest of the day.

The article gave some great tips on how to get a nap in a corporate environment, but many of them are adaptable to my situation here at home. The article also pointed out that power napping increases the “working memory”, that is, the ability to focus on one task while keeping others in the memory. Sounds like research-ese for multi-tasking to me, and like most women, I am indeed a multi-tasker. Perhaps tomorrow, I’ll join the ranks of Leonardo da Vinci, Albert Einstein and Thomas Edison. Perhaps tonight, I will also sleep. Perchance to dream of something besides being awake.

I enjoyed your link on power naps. It was interesting. It would also be very beneficial in my life. I’m sure I’m not the only one. (:

I'm Cass. I am a full-time mom to eight great children, a Christian and a blogger. I'm also a knitter, a reader and a movie watcher. And a collector of eclectic oddities.

For the first time in 18 and a half years, I have my own little corner again. Somewhere along the way, I seem to have lost myself, and now that I realize I'm missing, I'm on the look out for me. You maybe don't know what that means, but then again, maybe you do. Regardless, this is where I'll be when I'm not being a mother or a knitter. This is where I'll be just me. And if no one ever reads it, that's ok. I'll know it's here.
