Midlife Musings

Reflections on life from 40-something

My ego hurts

June26

I just visited a site that told me how much this domain is worth, and I am a little disappointed. You will remember from other posts that I watch these sorts of things because….well, because I have an ego. At LeapFish, they weigh a variety of factors and give you a quote. According to them, Midlife Musings has a value of $21. Umm, compared to the hours and hours I have poured into this site, I am worth negative pennies per hour. My longest running site, CassKnits! is worth a mere $912. Good thing I’m not interested in selling, right?

Anyway, you can get other info at LeapFish, too. They’ve looked at and compared the various domain registrars and hosting services, and listed their top picks. They have tutorials and articles on choosing domain names, as well. It’s too late for me, but if you are thinking of starting a website, you should give them a quick read.

EDIT 7/4 I totally entered my sites incorrectly. When I only out in the domain name, the values were $989 and $10,908. I’m still not selling, LOL!

Are you strict about wearing your sunscreen in the summer?
Do you frequently wear sandals in the summer? Any favorites you’d like to share?
What are a few great books that you’ve taken along to the beach or on vacation in years past? If you aren’t a big reader, what do you do to while away the lazy hours?
How do you feel about swimsuit shopping? Love it, hate it, indifferent? What’s your color of choice?

No, but I don’t spend much time outside, either. I don’t do sun, after a couple of severe burns in childhood.

I wear flip flops all year round.

Ha! I don’t vacation, either. I do spend way too much time online, though. Lately, I’ve started reading again.

Don’t wear them. I have one with the tags still on it that I bought a decade ago, just so i would have one.

Hmmmmm, guess I’m not real big on summer, am I ?

Midnight Mutterings Part One

I am sure you have noticed that I produce some posts that don’t exactly fit with the overall theme of this blog. Sometimes I need to mention things like IBM memory, which doesn’t exactly have a great deal to do with my life right now. So, I’ve decided this: When there’s something that must be said, and I can’t fit it into my life, I’ll post it on Saturday.

Midnight Mutterings Part Two

I hope this works for you. I tried it out on a couple of my other blogs last week, and had no complaints. After all, I may sit on furniture all the time, but there are really so many times that I can discuss furniture shopping in a reasonable manner. I don’t need any help looking like a spendaholic, just look at my recent posts about makeup!

Sometimes, though, you’ll find some helpful tips in what I say in these “midnight mutterings” titles. For instance, school loan consolidation, when used wisely, can really help pull your kettle out of the proverbial fire. Sometimes, unexpected things happen, and there is no way to meet obligations you previously thought would be no problem. I’ve been there, done that, and have the repo on my record to prove it.

How do you feel about bullion? Not the stuff you eat/drink. That’s bouillon. (Yeah, I had to get some out of my pantry to check the spelling.) I’m talking about silver and gold and other precious metals, particularly as an investment opportunity. I’ve read that above ground silver stores are almost depleted. In fact, the U.S. Government used to sell silver, and now they are buying it. That puts silver holders in a unique position, now, doesn’t it? Gold is going up as well! It was considered magical by some ancients, but teh magic now is what it can do to your investment portfolio. These metals are HOT.

There are many wonderful spots to vacation, but one place I would like to go is to New Jersey to see Deb. You may remember she came to see me a few weeks ago, and we had a great time. I’d love to go up for the weekend, and whisk her away to a New Jersey bed and breakfast for some quality girl time. She could show me her favorite beach, and we could eat good food, and drink wine and give ourselves a manicure.

Do you remember when I put all those buttons in my sidebar there, showing the social networking sites I had joined? It looked like a lot, huh? Well………I’m not the only one who likes the social networking ya’ll. Please meet Navtej Kohli, Navtej Kohli, Navtej Kohli, Navtej Kohli, and also Navtej Kohli. And you thought I was busy on the internets!

I'm Cass. I am a full-time mom to eight great children, a Christian and a blogger. I'm also a knitter, a reader and a movie watcher. And a collector of eclectic oddities.

For the first time in 18 and a half years, I have my own little corner again. Somewhere along the way, I seem to have lost myself, and now that I realize I'm missing, I'm on the look out for me. You maybe don't know what that means, but then again, maybe you do. Regardless, this is where I'll be when I'm not being a mother or a knitter. This is where I'll be just me. And if no one ever reads it, that's ok. I'll know it's here.
