:booking:What, in your opinion, is the best book that you haven’t liked? Mind you, I don’t mean your most-hated book–oh, no. I mean the most accomplished, skilled, well-written, impressive book that you just simply didn’t like.
Like, for movies–I can acknowledge that Citizen Kane is a tour de force and is all sorts of wonderful, cinematically speaking, but . . . I just don’t like it. I find it impressive and quite an accomplishment, but it’s not my cup of tea.
So . . . what book (or books) is your Citizen Kane?
Umm, this sounds like such a sanctimonious answer, but none. Life is too short and my reading time to precious to invest it in books I don’t like.
I had a hard time coming up with my answer too; I think a lot of times if there’s a piece of classic literature that I don’t like, it’s probably because I don’t get it. My answer had to come from a work I was assigned to read, so I didn’t really have the privilege of saying, “I don’t like this book, so I’m not going to read it.”
Were you ever assigned reading that you didn’t like?
I have three titles for my answer. Come see. Happy BTT.
While I like the idea of just not reading books I don’t like, I do find I learn a lot from toughing out an occasional awful book.
Life is too short to have to crawl through a bad book, especially when you aren’t in school and not being forced to read it!
I read a lot of good books but this particular good books I always completely missed out because of lack of interest. Books authored by Stephen king. It’s a good book but not my type.
I too read a lot of books. I dont like horror books.I just watch horror movies.Horror books dont scare me.
War and Peace. I have not been able to complete it so far. It is because of the Russian names. They keep changing from one place to another. It is very difficult to keep track of the events taking place in the book. But some day I will read it just to tell others that I have read this “masterpiece”.
