Booking Through Thursday

So, now that 2006 is over . . . what were your favorite books of the year?

I did not get to do much reading this past year, which I am trying to rectify in 2007. That’s one of the reasons I am participating in this meme. My favorite book by far was The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. It was also the most disturbing and unsettling book I read. My oldest daughter read it, and handed it to me saying, “You have GOT to read this book.” Great read.

Next year, I hope to have more than one favorite 😉

  1. May I suggest The Birth House by Ami McKay? First work from a Canadian writer. A young girl in a rural area is mentored by the local midwife/herbalist. Her turn to take over comes just as an OB/GYN doc sets up shop and begins pressuring women to utilize a modern, sterile setting for their deliveries. 1930-40s Canada. I enjoyed it tremendously, but there is some cotent you might find a bit risque.

Which reminds me, I’m visting all of your blogs looking for porn! Guess I’d best get back to it.
