Midlife Musings

Reflections on life from 40-something

Five on Friday

January27

:fridays:
1. What inspires you?
2. What blocks your creativity?
3. Do you do anything special to get your creative juices flowing?
4. What time of day do you feel most inspired?
5. How do you like to express your creative energy?

Silence, and time alone, whether actually alone or just alone in my head inspires me. Noise that I have to pay attention to stops me dead in my tracks. I don’t do anything to get the creativity flowing: When the muse strikes, I just try to type/write/make/do fast enough to keep up. To express my creative energy these days, I type. When I am more heavily into knitting, I design. I also have other hobbies, and it just depends on which one is the focus of the time. Ideas tend to pop into my head fully formed, and it is a struggle against time and distraction to get them down in some form before they go away.

I'm Cass. I am a full-time mom to eight great children, a Christian and a blogger. I'm also a knitter, a reader and a movie watcher. And a collector of eclectic oddities.

For the first time in 18 and a half years, I have my own little corner again. Somewhere along the way, I seem to have lost myself, and now that I realize I'm missing, I'm on the look out for me. You maybe don't know what that means, but then again, maybe you do. Regardless, this is where I'll be when I'm not being a mother or a knitter. This is where I'll be just me. And if no one ever reads it, that's ok. I'll know it's here.
