Menopause?

So, I have a question. Ya’ll know I turned 40 last month, and I’ve noticed a bit of a change in my last couple of cycles. Since my first child, I have have had clockwork menstrual cycles, every 28 days, first thing in the morning, except when pregnant or nursing. The last couple of months, though, I’ve been late. First by a day, and then by a couple of days. I’m the first gal in my family to go through natural menopause in a couple of generations, so I have no one to ask “what’s normal”? My question then is: is this normal?

Because really, as much fun as a new baby would be, it’s kind of roller-coaster-ish to wonder each month if I need to shop for maternity clothes.

  1. It is normal for cycles not to be regular and sometimes even skip one. I do think you are too young to start with the cycle change, usually hot flashes come first.

  2. But its quite young for you to have menopause at your age 40. normally woman have menopause around 50+ years old. Maybe you have started your period earlier at your teenager age.
