Why #2

I am blessed to have a very laid-back DH. Some would say too laid-back, but he provides great balance to my more fiery personality. We suit each other well. He very rarely blows his top, so he very rarely feels the need to make amends with expensive gifts (read that diamonds) or grand gestures (read that roses for no reason). I’ve never really understood than mindset that says “I can treat you poorly if I buy you nice things.”

The sad thing is that I see myself doing similar things. Not, in a financial way, but I know that if I have been snappy to one of the kids I may try to compensate by being overly nice. As if I think they can’t see through that???

Why #2: Why do we think diamond rings and and “sure, sweetie” can make up for mistreatment?

Why #1

I had a telemarketer call me the other morning at 8:30 AM. Do you know what AM stands for? At Morning. Man, was I steamed. The thing is, I like the company, and what they stand for. But not at 8:30 in the morning. You’d think that since the federal government declared that debt collectors can’t call before 9, then solicitor’s would get a CLUE, and refrain from doing so as well. Perhaps Martin Worldwide can make a new list: consumers who get hacked off if you call before 9! Martin is already the leadinglist broker because of their lists of proven spenders, and this would make a great addition to their line up. Particularly if those lists were merged and cross-referenced.

P.S. Just send the royalties on that to my paypal account.

Why #1: Why do you call here so early at all?

Darn Clock

What kind of person sets their alarm clock for 6am on Saturday? One who is still not entirely converted to morning person-hood. Just sayin’

I’ll get there, and I still think it’s a grand idea. It’s just that sleep is a pretty darn good idea, too.

Well, that’s interesting

So, about The Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk. I told you I was going to be posting on it frequently. That’s to spur you on to register as a team captain, and also to keep me on track. And boy, did I get a shocker this morning. The walk I signed up for?? Not a walk. Nope, it’s a volleyball tournament. Needless to say, I’m a little surprised by that, but I guess I can go with the flow.

yeswecan1The good news is that I am the second highest fundraiser in the area, LOL! That will probably change, as teams are allowed to sign up the day of the event. I’ll be investigating this further, and posting more about it next week.

In the mean time, you! Go sign up as a team captain. For a Memory Walk in your area, that may or may not end up being a volleyball tournament.

You might as well get on with it, cause I am going to be saying it again and again. Memory Walk. Team Captain. Sign Up Early. Just Do It.

Memory Walk

Have I mentioned that I don’t generally deal real well with surprises?

Purpose

I just wanted to do a quick post to let you know the series on goals will resume on Monday, and unless I get a thunderbolt of revelation, there will be just one or two more posts. I do have a couple more things to say, but there’s no need to drag it out forever. 🙂

Well, do you hate it?

I changed the theme here a few days ago, and ya’ll have been suspiciously quiet about it. Either you are all reading through feeds, you all hate it or no one is coming to read me at all. I’m not sure I am ready to hear the answer to that, LOL! The only reason I am mentioning it is to let those of you who are on the feed know to drop by and check out the new look.

Time Flies

A month ago yesterday, I wrote a post about the The Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk, and I encouraged you to visit the site and sign up to be a team captain on a local walk. I’m bringing it up again, and I’ll be mentioning it frequently from now until my own walk which is the 13th of October. Honestly, the days have just flown by, and I did not even realize how close my own walk was until just now. 32 days, ya’ll. And I seriously need to get cracking because I don’t have any team members yet. *GULP*

As you can see from this screenshot, I have a ways to go before I reach my fundraising goal, not to mention the other three quarters of my team!

I have totally got to get of my can with this and I need some ideas. The folks I would normally ask to contribute to an event of this nature are busy with another huge funding need, and while that may be settled closer to walk time, now is just not the time to even ask. However, I may be able to get a couple folks to walk with me, and they know people that I don’t so, maybe, just maybe, I can get someone that way. Honestly, I am getting kind of skeered ya’ll. The more I think about it the more overwhelmed I get. I need to get my self-talk straight and get activated, so I can do this thing.

And so can you! They need more team captains! It’s not hard, honest. You just have to make time to do it. An hour or so a week talking to people, and then a morning or less in October to make a difference in lives all over the world. Come on! Heh. you might as well get on with it, cause I am going to be saying it again and again. Memory Walk. Team Captain. Sign Up Early. Just Do It.
