Get a Better Pillow

I forgot to tell ya’ll that I am sleeping a bit better these days. Of course, since I haven’t complained of insomnia in a while, you might have figured that out. So, what made the difference for me? I replaced my old and worn out pillow with a fresh fluffy one! It had been years since I got a new pillow, and it has made a big difference in my sleeping.

Now, my pillow is plain, because I did not know about the mediflow pillow. This pillow sounds like a dream come true (ha! I slay myself) for insomniacs. You fill it with water depending on your preferred sleep position, and it adjusts itself to your movements through the night, reducing neck pain.

You know what else it does? It can “reduce the affects of aging such as dark circles under your eyes and wrinkles”. Ya’ll. You don’t even know. I woke up this morning with a wrinkle in my face the size of the Grand Canyon! It was a CREVICE, people. I smiled at myself to put on my blush, and almost dropped the compact. It went from under the middle of my eye half way down my cheek, and it was caused by the way I was sleeping. I know this because it’s not as bad now as it was earlier. Listen, I don’t need that kind of scare. I don’t mind the gradual wrinkles, but, geez!! Give a girl a little warning. And check the pillow out. You can find it at Penney’s and Target as well as at the link above.

Midnight Mutterings Krillion

You will like this one. Well, maybe not, but it will one you love to hate, because you’ll only need it when you need to spend money. Krillion is a search engine that allows you to find major appliances that are actually in your local area stores, in stock, ready to buy. This would have been so nice when I bought my dishwasher this spring. I could have entered Frigidaire Dishwashers and my zipcode, and found out exactly who had them and at what price. I could have saved several hours of store site by store site search time, and an equal amount of frustration.

Soon, you’ll be able to search the same way for fun stuff like flat panel TVs, so if you are in the market for something like that, wait until July, and try Krillion.

This is on my list

P1336 mI just saw this wedding survival kit, and it’s on my “I should get this” list. You keep one of those, don’t you? I found out when I followed a link for wedding cameras. Of course, you know I am not getting married, but minus the extra wedding bands, this is a neat little kit that’s suitable for any time you need to travel. And remember, I’m going to be traveling to Vegas in November. Seriously, go check out the list of what’s included, and I know you will agree with me! The case is just 10″ w x 6 1/2″ h x 3 1/2″ w, so it would easily tuck in to the corner of a large suitcase. And it’s metal, so it won’t get squashed, either.

My ego hurts

I just visited a site that told me how much this domain is worth, and I am a little disappointed. You will remember from other posts that I watch these sorts of things because….well, because I have an ego. At LeapFish, they weigh a variety of factors and give you a quote. According to them, Midlife Musings has a value of $21. Umm, compared to the hours and hours I have poured into this site, I am worth negative pennies per hour. My longest running site, CassKnits! is worth a mere $912. Good thing I’m not interested in selling, right?

Anyway, you can get other info at LeapFish, too. They’ve looked at and compared the various domain registrars and hosting services, and listed their top picks. They have tutorials and articles on choosing domain names, as well. It’s too late for me, but if you are thinking of starting a website, you should give them a quick read.

EDIT 7/4 I totally entered my sites incorrectly. When I only out in the domain name, the values were $989 and $10,908. I’m still not selling, LOL!

Shop Smarter

I use firefox as my internet browser, and I just found a nifty new tool for it. It’s a shopping plugin, from RetailMeNot.com. Once you download it, it will let you know about coupon codes while you are shopping online. For instance, if you are at target, com, and ready to check out, it might alert you to a target coupon code. Boom, instant savings. Yeah, yeah, thank me later. Shop first, LOL!

With nifty things like this, it’s no surprise that RetailMeNot has over a million visitors per month, is it? Those visitors contribute and rate coupons. Ya’ll, this is social networking that works!

Soy Candles

I have really been enjoying my candles lately. I burn then for several hours every day. We actually set up several different spots around the living room with like-smelling groupings of candles. I still have to look at then every time I go into a store that has them, though. One thing I have yet to run into locally is soy candles. I found the soy wax at A.C. Moore, but I wasn’t sure what it was, so I didn’t get any.

According to Roly Poly Soy Candles, I may have cheated myself out of a real delight. They last three times as long as traditional candles, and throw even more scent. I may have to order a few, because they have some scents that sound delightful! I’d like to try the lemon grass and the jasmine, for sure. The selection of scents is just incredible, and you can have the candles whatever color you’d like, because they pour to order. I have a birthday coming up, and perhaps I can justify a little more self indulgence.

Debt Consolidation Review

I’ve been asked to do review on a site that offers articles and services related to debt consolidation. You all know I love to give my opinions, so I am happy to oblige 🙂 DebtHelp is a wealth of information that will be valuable to anyone who is looking for a debt management program. Whether you are looking into mortgage refinance or student loan consolidation, you will find this site a good place to start.

In order to get to the articles, use the tabs at the top of the page. In addition to the areas mentioned above, you’ll be able to find out about credit repair and even information on taxes.

This site is set up to sell a service, and there is no mistaking that the point of that service is debt consolidation, through loans. But they have gone out of their way to set up a site that is user-friendly, and information intensive. You’ll find answers to your credit questions here, even if you don’t end up using their service.

I have no problems recommending a site that is providing this type of information. Even though they make money if you take out a loan with them, the articles are free for the clicking. I’d recommend that you read a few now, to perhaps prevent trouble later. But that may just be my age and experience talking.

Breaking Bad Habits

I just read an interesting page about bad habits. Well, more specifically about breaking them. We all have some things about us that could certainly stand changing, whether it’s spending too much money (umm, quit looking at me and my stuff, ok?) or overeating. The thing is that a bad habit usually costs much more than just the money you spend on it. Some of them cost peace of mind, or health problems. Sometimes they cost relationships, too.

The good news is that you don’t have to keep living that way if you don’t want to. I know I have some things to work on. Would you care to join me?
